It’s a Retro RIUH this March so let’s get groovy! Klang Valley’s favourite weekend soiree is back with a bang this March and it’s going back in time for a revival. Taking place at its usual venue, APW on Bangsar’s Jalan Riong on the 24th and 25th of March from 10am till 9pm, RIUH is essentially a curated creative platform that hosts a spectrum of eclectic homegrown brands, local and international flavours to feast on, creative workshops, showcases and live acts, all under one roof.
Akin to community-based artisanal markets celebrating the arts including Covent Garden in London, Finders Keepers in Australia, Knack Market in Bangkok, Brightspot Market and Indoestri in Indonesia and Public Garden in Singapore, RIUH aims to put Kuala Lumpur on the creative map - timely, to further enhance the creative industry in Malaysia.
This is one RIUH you don't want to miss as RIUH pays tribute to the legendary Tan Sri P. Ramlee in conjunction with his birthday and all things vintage because old is gold! There will even be a RIUH Kopitiam, Salon Retro RIUH, Bas Tak Sekolah - a mobile library with a twist, Kopitiam RIUH and loads more!
Female empowerment also gets a well deserved homage as RIUH highlights some of your favourite women in the Arts as well as social enterprises that help single moms and women in business.
Prepare for some classic fun as Retro RIUH presents song and dance in the style of yester years with Tarakucha Tapau! featuring Sean Ghazi and Ida Mariana - a big band on keys, guitar, upright bass, percussion and velvet vocals.
Prepare to be entertained by SKA Nusantara band Budak Nakal Hujung Simpang, old school music playlists as selected by DJ collective Public School, busker sessions, Mahavidya dance, Rapsodi Gamelan ensemble and flash mob Malaysian style with Keretapi Sarong Joget Lambak - join the fun as people of all walks of life dance to old and new Malay, Indian, Chinese & English music in your favourite sarong!

The curated artisanal bazaar will of course have countless cool stuff to choose from including goods by Jari Indai, Lilin & Co, Naren Home, Warong Syaza, Bingka KL and The Straits.
Retro RIUH will see the launch of a collaboration with F Talent to promote the #JOMTHEATRE campaign which aims to encourage the Malaysian performing arts scene. Check it out at Uppercase over the weekend.
Alternative light sources will also be explored in conjunction with Earth Hour 2018 through an experimental theatre showcase directed by Helena Foo entitled In A Different Light which features six performers and light play.
“RIUH aims to bridge the creative community and the community at large to create a healthy ecosystem for the creative industry that enables the community to discover creative entrepreneurs and talents that Malaysia has to offer” explains Affendy Dally, RIUH’s co-managing partner.
