Klang Valley’s favourite weekend affair is back this February with an undoubtedly festive feel as it celebrates the year of the dog this Chinese New Year themed “ Gong Xi Riuh ”. Taking place at its usual venue, APW on Bangsar’s Jalan Riong on the 10th and 11th of February from 10am till 9pm, RIUH is essentially an curated creative platform that hosts a spectrum of eclectic homegrown brands, local and international flavours to feast on, creative workshops, showcases and live acts, all under one roof.

Akin to community-based artisanal markets celebrating the arts including Covent Garden in London, Finders Keepers in Australia, Knack Market in Bangkok, Brightspot Market and Indoestri in Indonesia and Public Garden in Singapore, RIUH aims to put Kuala Lumpur on the creative map - timely, to further enhance the creative industry in Malaysia.

It will be a Chinese New Year celebration not to be missed, kicking off with a performance by Colours of Voices - a diverse 5-man Accapella collective, an enigmatic mask changing dance, thundering drums provided by The Fugee School, a traditional Chinese instrumental performance by NakaSutra accompanied by a four-piece ensemble with vocals and elegant fan and handkerchief dancers from Ask Dance Company as the night draws to a close.

Gong Xi Riuh will also feature a live performance by the always exhilarating, Aseana Percussion Unit which consists of truly diverse musicians in a band, Chinese calligraphy for all to enjoy, the traditional Yee Sang tossing ceremony for visitors to participate. The highlight of both days will of course be the acrobatic lion dance performance by the Kwong Ngai Lion Dance Company. They are the champions at the recent World Hong Kong Luminous Dragon & Lion Dance Championship.

RIUH is synonymous with its experiential creative workshops. This time around, participants will be able to try their hands at a Lunar Paper Art workshop and Watercolour Brush Lettering. There will be Patch Play activities and a Valentine’s Day Florist.

There will be 40 pop up stores to shop from with brands such as Bengkel.Co, APOM, Fugeelah, Isti-mewa, Kritajna, Seniman, Thinkabelle and many more. The best part of RIUH Is always the food - among the tantalising treats on offer for the weekend will be provided by Chilli Pang Pang, Kasi Melts, Mom’s BBQ KL, Yoohoo Hot Dogs, The Chekodok Guys and Yellow Whisk.
