April is going to be wild because RIUH is going on safari! Taking place at its usual venue, APW on Bangsar’s Jalan Riong on the 21st and 22nd April from 11am till 10pm, RIUH is a curated creative platform that hosts a spectrum of eclectic, homegrown artisanal brands to discover, local and international flavours to feast on, creative workshops, showcases and live acts, all under one roof.
Akin to community-based artisanal markets such as Covent Garden in London, Finders Keepers in Australia, Knack Market in Bangkok, Brightspot Market and Indoestri in Indonesia and Public Garden in Singapore, RIUH aims to put Kuala Lumpur on the creative map - timely, to further enhance the creative industry in Malaysia.
RIUH presents an edition unlike any other - Safari in the City; a weekend where RIUH Goes Green in conjunction with World Earth Day will spread the love for mother earth and ourselves with a curated selection of natural products and brands advocating sustainability.
Let us educate ourselves on how we can make better choices by minimizing plastics, using eco-friendly straws, bringing our own shopping bags and recycling old jeans. Bring your unwanted jeans to be upcycled into new fashion pieces by Green Suri Jeans Recycle.
To celebrate World Book Day, RIUH will also be sharing the joy of reading books with some storytelling and collecting book donations for Books on the Move, a movement that promotes reading anywhere by dropping books at public places for people to pick up, read and pass along. Do remember to bring your spare books to share too at RIUH Reads!
Find out more about Autism Awareness Month this April by experiencing ‘The World From A Different Perspective’ through an auditory experience for the senses allowing you to experience what it’s like for those with autism.
Safari in the City is set to be soulful in conjunction with Jazz Appreciation Month with passionate performances by Evelyn Feroza, Bil Musa, Chelsia Ng, The Frankie Sixes and some serious beats by Tugu Drum Circle topped off with a swing dancing session for all to enjoy.
RIUH would not be a complete without some cultural acts. Relish the weekend and be mesmerised by haunting performances of the classic Ulek Mayang dance and colourful Peacock dance by ASK Dance Company.
